Hello,
INSEAD requires two recommenders and I am hesitating between three people:
My manager between 2014 and 2017position: director of strategy at HEC Paris (yes I worked at HEC Paris)
comment: ultra confortable to write shinny recommandations (he knows the inner workings)
My client/manager (I am consultant in a long term mission) between 2017 and nowposition: operational manager at Le Bon Marche (LVMH group)
comment: Ok writter, nothing to add
A coworker from another department with whom I've been working in pairs at my clients (she is also part of my consulting firm)position: senior consultant at Adone Conseil in long term mission at Le Bon Marche
comment: good writter
All of them, knows me well and think well of me. I've been working closely with all of them.
Thanks for your feedback, do not hesitate to ask me for more information.
Consider what kind of content they are going to write to your application.
What types of stories will they write about and how will those stories point to strengths that separate you from other people you're competing against?
Think about it in terms of the content, and how well they will tell the story about you demonstrating teamwork leadership and problem-solving.
Don't think much about title or any of that stuff, not as important.
I would also prioritize working with someone who is willing to work openly with you.
Whenever things go sideways with my clients it is always and I mean always a situation where my client had assumed (dangerous word) their recommender would be willing to work with them openly and instead - insisted on writing everything and private and sending it in without my clients seeing anything.
You want transpatency; to have the ability to give them talking points around a specific anecdote beginning middle and end and for them to brainstorm with you.
You really want to work with people who are willing to champion you and put in some effort. Do whatever you need.
