You can see the school rankings with average GMAT scores here:
the-pants-pooping-applicant-thread-for-78477.html#p617871Boston College has an average score of 660. I do not think a 610 will cut it for a traditional applicant (someone with a background in finance/econ). If you were a non-traditional applicant (teaching, military, etc.), you would have a better chance with a lower GMAT score.
I suggest retaking the GMAT. If you are worried about increasing your score, you might want to look into Knewton, as the organization has a 50 point increase guarantee. Please see the Knewton deal thread for current promotions:
best-knewton-discount-code-and-free-gmat-club-tests-90033.html(PS Your verbal and quant are both fairly low. You want a verbal score of ~36 and a quant of ~46 to be over 75 percentile in each section to reach the 660).
Best of luck,

Hi everyone. I'm applying to the part-time programs at Boston College and Boston University. I just took the GMAT yesterday and got a combined score of 610, with a 41 verbal and a 33 quant. My question is will my low quant score be a concern for admission committee. I have an underground background heavy in quant courses with a 3.5 GPA. My major was economics, and I have a 4.0 GPA in that area. Also, I have worked as a financial analyst for a Private Equity firm for the past 4 years and have good recommendation that will likely speak to my analytical abilities. Will this be enough to offset my poor quant score, or should I retake the GMAT?
