Re: How are the career prospects for tech EMBA? [#permalink]

Thanks for the response. When I look at the employment reports from these business schools it looks convincing that you will be able to find a position of your choice either with your current employer or a different employer. Are you saying most of the EMBAs end up going back to their current employers and wait for a career advancement opportunity? I would like to think it would be other way around; with an EMBA skillset along with your current experience it should open doors for new career path (management consulting, MBA position with top tech company, etc.). Am I off-base here? Where can I find more information or report how recent EMBA grads from other top schools are doing?

I don't know what you mean by "going back to their current employer". EMBA's never left their current employer so it's continued employment, not going back. Can you use an EMBA to find a new career? Probably. But that's not what the program is designed to do. An EMBA is supposed to help you advance in your current career and usually with your current employer. About a third of the students are fully sponsored by their employers. Another third partially sponsored. And the remaining are self-sponsored. There is s general expectation to stay with your current employer or at least in your current field.

Good info - Thanks. It would be nice to know where the recent EMBA grads are currently working (current employer vs new employer). Do you know where I could find this information? Can we ask the school to provide employment report that is exclusive for EMBA?
