I don't think it'll affect your chances of getting in. I took it twice. I think the conventional wisdom is that you shouldn't take it more than three times, but even then I'd keep taking it until I got the score I needed.

There is no problem retaking the test once, but retaking more than two times can start to get hairy. You just want to make sure that you show improvement, and don't have to take the test many many times to get the improvement you need. Some schools will wonder why you were able to achieve that score the first time.
Also, many schools are firm on the point that they only look at your highest score. So it can be on a case-by-case basis. I would ask or look into the schools you are interested in and see what they say.
But generally 1 retake is not bad, anymore than 1 can be somewhat negative depending on how you do. Of course if you score a 600, 620, 640, and a 710, then of course it was a great idea to take it 4 times.
