Hi Enrik,

I don't ask my students to use templates made by other people (it's not too hard to make your own), but the post that bb linked to is one of the most popular on GMAT Club. Take a look at it, and consider using (or adapting) it.

Unlike the GRE, the GMAT doesn't need us to hit extremely high word counts to get high scores. Aim for something reasonable (350-400 is a good target). Also, keep it simple. There's no need to use complicated structures and/or words. Finally, many schools don't pay much attention to AWA scores, so you may want to ask your target schools whether they're looking for anything specific.

Hello everybody,
I'm not a native English, I took the IELTS test last month and I got 7.
However, In the writing part I only scored 6/9, considering this, how much should I train in order to get a 4 in awa?
Is it enough to just read for 2 days some samples of awa of the previous years? Could you give me some advices?
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi Enrik,

Some people consider AWA as reverse of CR. If you’re good in CR, then you can look at the AWA argument, identify the logical gaps, the strengtheners, and weakeners and finally write the essay. There is a Chineseburned template that you can use to practice AWA. I consider myself good in CR and was able to score a 5.5 on AWA using Chineseburned template with minimal practice. The article can be found here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html

Hope it helps!

Hi Enrik,

The AWA is a fairly standard 'task' on the GMAT - meaning that you can follow a template and you should have a fairly good chance at score a 4.0 or higher on the AWA. There are a number of different templates that you might follow; a popular one can be found here:

Are you still planning to take the Official GMAT in a few weeks?

Hi Enrik,

While I understand why you might want to do a lot of studying in these last 4 days, you have to be careful about doing too much (as 'cramming' rarely leads to great results with Exams such as the GMAT - and you may end up inadvertently burning-out before Test Day). In the last few days, you should limit your studies to general practice and light review (again - NO 'cramming' and NO CATs/mocks) - you would be better served by getting some extra rest so that you can go into Test Day calm, clear-headed and ready to work.
