How Easy to Re-Apply to Harvard with Success? For each of the top-7 full-time U.S. MBA programs, we at
MBA Admit.com are posting our view about how easy it is to gain admission on a second try – indicating whether admissions can be achieved with a strong re-application with “ease”, with “moderate challenge”, or with “difficulty.
We give Harvard Business School (HBS) the rating of “moderate challenge” because we have helped many candidates gain admissions success only one year after their unsuccessful applications – even when they did not receive an interview when applying the first time.
Key to success in the HBS reapplication process were a few things. First, a candidate needed to make sure their underlying academic credentials were solid. Therefore, if a candidate had a low GMAT score such as a 650, they should strive to increase that score to 700 or above if possible.
Another key to success in the HBS reapplication process is showcasing leadership excellently in the new application. Many times, a candidate had good credentials but had not showcased them excellently through their essays, resume and recommendations. This means the candidate needs to go out of their way to overhaul their application to make sure the content is highly effective and well-honed.
Finally, a successful HBS reapplicant should show how they have continued to deepen their credentials during the months they had before submitting their re-application. If Harvard is really your top choice, you should be willing to work hard for it, so you should be able to demonstrate through a revised resume how you have continued to build your credentials since the first application.
