Hey Everyone,
I gave the GMAT FE a couple of months back and scored a 725 (V89 Q86 DI83) with 2 months of prep.
Before starting prep, I started reading online about what I wanted to do, and everywhere people kept mentioning different prep platforms. I saw that TTP had a 5-day free trial along with glowing reviews, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Ended up really liking the structure and signed up properly, even though it was a bit on the expensive side.
From there, it was two months of prep. Quant was the section I was most nervous about since I hadn’t done math in a while, but TTP’s course is super detailed. Every topic is broken into small chunks and you are forced to drill it until it clicks. Served as a spectacular refresher.
Verbal was a hidden gem. I did not believe a course could really improve verbal scored as opposed to just practicing the questions, but TTP treats verbal almost mathematically, and you start seeing the patterns within each question type after going through the chapters and doing the questions.
The question bank was the real MVP for me. TTP has an exhaustive question bank, broken down conveniently into Hard, Medium and Easy categories. You are allowed to mix and match topics and difficulties and create custom question banks. I utilized these a ton to go deeper into topics I did not fare well in.
In addition to TTP, I used GMAT Ninja for a few quant and verbal topics I was having extra difficulty with and GMAT club for questions once my TTP question bank was exhausted. I would highly recommend doing the 705+ questions from GMAT club.
The prep itself went in phases. I was able to devote a lot of time to GMAT prep in the first month since work was not heavy at that time, and went through the Quant and Verbal chapters fairly quickly. The first half of the second month was much harder. I suffered burn out and was finding it hard to get motivated. During this time, I took a break from GMAT for a week. This helped a lot, and I came back into the prep refreshed and felt myself solving questions faster than ever.
I gave my first mock after a week of solving easy level OG questions, and got a 645, with big weaknesses in Quant and DI (DS particularly). Throughout my prep, I gave mocks at various checkpoints and hovered between 675 and 735. The key for me was to drill down on the exact order of sections I wanted to go in (including when I want to take the break). I would suggest figuring that out early in the prep so that you can take most of the OG mocks in the order you would do on test day.
I made sure I scheduled my test time at 11:40 (as opposed to earlier in the morning). I took a day off, woke up early and solved 20 questions to get my brain working. The test center experience was great. I would suggest reaching at least 30 mins early to avoid any hiccups.
Overall, I had a really positive GMAT experience. If you are considering TTP, my suggestion would be: take the free trial and see if the structure clicks with you. If not, ensure that you do as many questions and mocks as possible.
