Hi All,
After 4 months of diligently preparing for exam, I appeared for GMAT exam today and scored a rather disappointing 670 (q48, v34). I'm disappointed but not surprised as I was consistently scoring 670-680 on my 4 GMATPrep exams. Anyway, looking at the score it is clear that I need to work on my verbal skills in order to achieve score in lower 700+, but I also want to get insight on my performance in each section.
I called GMAC support center to ask how many days do I need to wait before I can request ESR, which I have already bought before the exam. The lady said I can do it only after I receive email from GMAT stating that scores are available online for viewing and it would take another 20 days.
It doesn't seem right to me as I have seen other students post ESR report just few days after the exam and 20 days waiting period is for official GMAT score.
Is there a change in GMAC policy? Any idea how long will I have to wait to submit ESR request? Please help

First off, a 670/Q48 is a strong score (it's above the 80th percentile overall), so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

The ESR can't be generated until your GMAT Score is certified and made "Official." Right now, you have the Unofficial Score Results - and while the Official Results are almost always the same as the Unofficial Results, there's still a formal process that must be followed. Depending on the time of year, that process could take from a few days to a few weeks (but it's unlikely that it will take 20 days for the certification to occur).
If you do choose to retest, then it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) What study materials have you used?
2) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
Goals:
3) What is your exact goal score?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank you Rich for your response. I'll definitely ask on admissions expert forum. Regarding ESR availability, Score is now available online so could download my ESR. Few surprising observations in there. Will also create a separate 'Ask GMAT Expert' post to get some recommendations on approach.
