Target question: How many days would it take two carpenters, working together, to build 5 desks?
Statement 1: Each carpenter can build 4 desks in two days.
If a carpenter can build 4 desks in 2 days, then he/she can build 2 desks in 1 day.
So, TWO carpenters can build 4 desks each day.
So, these TWO carpenters (working together) will take 1.25 days to build 5 desks
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: Two carpenters, working together, work twice as fast as one carpenter working alone.
This tells us nothing about the RATE at which the carpenters work
So, statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT

how did you assume rate of both carpenters same??
thats not given in the question that both of them work at same constant rate.
only statement 2 defines that both carpenters have same rate.
I am getting C
