Total 10 gallons
Let x gallons of milk be used for the 2% Butterfat. Then 10 - x gallons will be for the 3.5% butterfat
Average Concentration = \(\frac{C_1Q_1 + C_2Q_2}{Total \space Quantity}\)
\(3 = \frac{2x + 3.5(10 - x)}{10}\)
30 = 2x + 35 - 3.5x
1.5x = 5
x = 50/15 = 10/3

k = gallons of milk with 3.5% butterfat
given final mixture is 10 gallons, so
x+k =10 -------> I
Apply agitation and mixtures formula
\(\frac{Volume of Cheaper}{Volume of Desired} = \frac{ Percent of Desired - Percent of Mean}{Percent of Mean - Percent of Cheap}\)
\(\frac{x}{k} = \frac{ 3.5 - 3}{3 - 2}\)
k= 2x -------> II
Solve Equation I and II , we get \(x = \frac{10}{3}\)
