5-6 problems wrong is not bad at all. You may be good at Math, but GMAT does not test your math skills as much your ability to apply a limited set of skill to unlimited number of problems. If its, as you call it, a stupid mistake, thats an easy one. Record it into what i call an error log and review this log before every test. If you are repeating mistakes, thats not good. Remember that practice tests scores mean very little.

By stupid mistakes I mean.. clicking B instead of clicking C.. For example in my recent test, I calculated 6 as the answer but by the time I reached computer screen I was in such a rush to go to the next question, I selected 7.. and Kaplan lets you go back and review all your questions. I was extremely dissapointed to see my mistakes.

Thanks, yes I do keep an error log. Here is what I have done. I have a notebook and I have divided that into various sections.. DS + 11th ed.. DS+ 10th ed.. RC + 10 ed.. RC+ 11th. ed.. SC + 10th.. you get the idea.. whenever I solve questions.. I put them in the right bucket.. at the end I look at all the answers right and wrong.. and understand the wrong ones.. and mark them up.. After identifying my weak points, I work on them and once every 3 weeks I try doing my wrong answers.

I was dissapointed to see 5-6 wrongs because I know people on this forum are soo smart that they won't even miss a single question.. and here i missed 5-6..

I would not be too concerned about how many questions I was able to answer correct in the practise exam. I used to get about 10 - 12 q's wrong almost everytime I attempted but my final score was 700.

Remember the test has some questions which won't be counted towards your final score.

I didn't knew that.. so there is always that luck riding on your back..

I have seen on a good day one can score may be 30 points better on GMAT than on a bad day..
