Hi,
I took a Gmatprep test today and scored really low.
Scores: 630; Q47, V32
I have to reschedule my test date as I am not prepared enough to get the desired 700.
Can somebody please help me to decide a reasonable prep time given the below conditions?
Also, answers to some of the questions I have w.r.t. to the preparation would be a great help.
1. I have to improve on quant and a lot on verbal. As English is not my first language, I have to work on my reading and comprehension tremendously.
2. I have studied verbal only from the official guide. Should I practice and study the questions again? CR and RC are my weaker areas more than SC.
3. Quant - I have solved OG and OG quantitative review.
In the coming weeks, I have planned to take up my weak areas and get familiar with different question types. Would that be okay?
4. I can spend 5-6 hours on preparation every day.
5. What would be the right strategy to move ahead from here on?
I want to ensure I am on the right track and working on things which can really make a difference.

Unfortunately, there isn't a 'fixed' answer as to how long it would take to raise a 630 to a 700+. Depending on your particular strengths/weaknesses and your ability to learn new Tactics, it would likely take at least another 1-2 months of consistent, guided study to get to that level. It's also worth noting that at higher and higher scoring levels, the GMAT becomes really 'sensitive' to little mistakes - so you have to try to define WHY you get questions wrong on your CATs (re: do you not know how to solve the question or are you getting it wrong because you made a little mistake?). Before I can offer you any additional advice about how to continue your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
4) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (with the Essay and IR sections)?
Goals:
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Here are the answers:
I am not completely sure but I feel the questions which go wrong are the ones in which I can't decide on an approach as soon as I read the question. And by the time I start solving, more than a minute is lost and instead of concentrating on solving the question I start to think of a wise guess so that I do not loose on time at the end. I feel I need to familiarize myself with the question types. For verbal, I feel my comprehension is poor under the time pressure because the questions I mark incorrect on SC also are mostly the meaning questions.
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
- I have studied for 4 months.
2) What materials have you used?
- I attended a classroom program and practiced questions from the OG and the material they provided.
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
- I have taken 4 tests. Below are the scores:
Test1 - 540; Q39 V22
Test2 - 640; Q47 V31
Test3 - 640; Q47 V30
Test4 - 630; Q47 V32
4) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (with the Essay and IR sections)?
- Yes, I have taken the tests with AWA and IR.
