@blg529. Will UCLA provide you with the same type of introductions/exposure to the companies/career that you want to work at/in that Stanford/Kellogg would also provide? This would depend on your desired career path. Of course the name brand is good to have, but if UCLA has connections to large fortune500 that are looking for brand managers (seems like thats what you're looking for), then it might be worth it to stay in LA.

Also, you'd have to weigh your husband's career and your relationship's long-term goals. If he's making heavy money already, its definitely not worth it to uproot/sell house. Of if you plan on having a family, do you want to stay local to LA? if so, do you not mind moving away for school and trying your luck after MBA to move back to LA?

im sure you've already thought about these things tho. hopefully i'm not convoluting things more.

personally, I'd say go with the choice that will produce the highest expected value for income (combined, your husband+you) for the family. But some people will want to weigh "life happiness", whatever that means, into the equation. 'dem crazy people.

i'd go with the top 10 school with 0% scholarship. But if my situation were different (eg. have family, children, income-making spouse, strong ties to community), i might pick top 20 school with 50% scholarship. i guess my answer is that relationships lead to compromise, for better or for worse. NOT AT ALL trying to disparage those in relationships currently. Just that the reality is that those in relationships have a much more delicate situation to balance than I do.

You have to figure that out. Your situation is a bit differnet (married, own a home, husband has a career there). Do you need to go to Stanford/Kellogg to advance or will Anderson name be enough to get to where you want to be in your career? UCLA isn't a bad school and if you're really worried about rankings why not look to Haas? Regional rankings should be factored in also if you are considering staying in that area. Anderson probably places just as well as Kellogg does locally for you (I would bet)
