The AWA score on the GMAT is important but it's tertiary in consideration compared to your overall score (primary) and your individual scores (secondary.) To counter the score of 3, you have a couple of options:

(1) Retake the exam assuming you feel comfortable duplicating your GMAT score otherwise
(2) Write well-articulated essays (we can help you here)
(3) Offer an explanation in the optional essay section (not strongly recommended)

Other than that, you will just have to hope that the rest of your profile is solid so the AWA score is seen more as a blip and not a concern.
