Also, I have absolutely no dependents so that helps.

Well I also dont have any dependants! May I ask whether you are already in a managerial role and which all schools you target?

Inspiring posts :)

I am in a management role for a management consulting firm (wait, that sounds odd...); anyways, I am 3 years out of school and I'm only applying to Stanford for an entrepreneurial career. I should also mention I have start-up on the side, but its not profitable yet.

Walking away from money is always tough. I hope everyone here who goes to B-School will end up being a better person / make more money :-)

I echo this. I am walking away from 150k base + 150k up bonus with 15% annual raise. Initially I thought being a better person and pursuing my dream is more important than chasing $$$, so I would like to sacrify what I have got at my early stage and become a dream chaser. But now I realize that it's actually a natural flow that being a better person can bring you both better life and career. Making more $$$ is just a by-product. Look at those successful big person and those I know that are making successful progress, they are all good person that I would like to make life-long friends with. Now I simply want to challenge my weaking part in my nature and be a better person...
