Hi,
I got into UNC for this fall and as we know there is a pre-approved, no co-signer loan for full tuition(and mandatory) fees approx 52k/year. The other fees(and pre-school workshop) costs about 30k which I have to fund through other sources.
I believe for I-20, we need to show liquid funds for first year. I plan to show the loan facilitated by the school and the personal funds to cover the total 82k for the first year.
In the I-20 Fin Cert for the university @
https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/admiss ... nCert.ashx there are many places where they mention "assume second year fees goes up by 10%". I believed I-20 doc is only about my financial status for the first year. I have also asked the school about this. I will share their response. Meanwhile, can someone who has been through such a thing clarify this?
Anyway, US Department of State website for F-1 visas (
https://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types ... 268.html#6) says "Financial evidence that shows you or your parents who are sponsoring you has sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses during the period of your intended study."
Funds for period of study? Now does this mean, I have to show funds for TWO YEARS right now????!!!
Or the visas are granted if the first year requirement mentioned in the I-20 is met?
Ufff.... Painful. Please clarify.
Cheers,
Jo!
