Hi sachin0890,

To provide the best possible advice, it would be helpful to learn more about your GMAT experience and MBA goals. I have a few questions:

1) What is your GMAT score goal?

2) Have you taken any practice exams?

2) Describe your study routine. For how many hours a day have you been studying and for how many total months? What resources have you been using for your prep?
4) To what schools do you plan to apply?

5) What deadlines are you targeting?

Once you provide me with some further information, I can give you some more tailored advice.

Hi sachin0890,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. It takes into account a number of different factors - more than just the number of correct and incorrect answers. As such, you shouldn't be spending time trying to figure it all out. You'd be better served working on building up your skills. Based on your question, it sounds like you've put in some significant study time already.

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi sachin0890,

Your last CAT score includes a significantly higher Verbal Scaled Score than any of your other CAT scores. Before we talk about how best for you to proceed with your studies, I'd like to know a bit more about how you took these CATs:

1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE?

Hi Sachin0890,

Based on your last practice test score of 640 (assuming that was your most recent), you are showing some great progress from your initial score of a 570. With that said, I’m still concerned that you may not be totally ready for your exam on the 22nd. Are you able to push back your test date, if necessary?

Before making any decisions of how to proceed, I would like to see how you score on another MBA.com practice exam, so we can get an accurate and up-to-date GMAT score. Is it possible to take another one of those exams and report back with the score breakdown?

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me directly.
