How Scholarship works?

Question

Hey Guys, as I'm new and not having much idea on how scholarship works, I am posting my doubt here.

I wanted to know whether we have a different stage or level with different deadlines to apply for scholarship or it should be chosen at the time of MBA application submission.

Can anyone please provide me the info or links where I can get some good info?

Hey Kavyashreeap ,

Most of the top US B Schools don't have any separate scholarship process. You are given scholarship based on your credentials/overall profile. So, you can go to the schools you are targeting and there you can find more information on this. Mostly, it is merit based scholarship or women forte scholarship or under represented profile scholarship.

I'll add to this- check the financial aid pages of the b-schools where you are applying. there are some very specific scholarships available at times - the least of them are or Indians, but they may be related to your industry or other specific criteria

Need-based scholarships are dependent on the financial situation of the applicant. These are usually only granted to citizens of the state. These scholarships are relatively rare, but are still a viable option for students who struggle to finance their studies. The criteria for need-based scholarships differ at each institute, but they all take into account income, savings, assets, and sometimes, familial status and its implications.

Merit-based scholarships are granted based on skills and past excellence. These talents and experience are expected to contribute to the program as a whole. These scholarships are generally only announced after an applicant is accepted into the program. From a school’s perspective, merit-based scholarships ensure that a promising applicant chooses their program over other options.
