Hi,
I have taken the GMAT twice. Below are my scores:
June 2016 - 680 (q45, v38, IR 5) I cancelled this score
July 2016 - 700 (q47, v40, IR 6)
I know my most recent take is a great score; however, I'd feel more comfortable applying for an MBA, in addition to post-MBA recruiting, if I had a 730+.
To achieve my goal, I can either increase my quant to q49 and keep verbal steady OR increase quant to q48 (I've hit this on a GMATPREP before) and increase verbal to v42. On my second gmat, I thought I didn't do well on quant so that may have not made me feel good in verbal. If I can make myself confident in quant, could that help my confidence when subsequently beginning the verbal section? I'm just thinking out loud here.
I'm planning to sit for my third and final retake September 6th. I think a bit over 5 weeks should be sufficient to achieve my goal.
Advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
700 is a good GMAT score and might be sufficient enough to get you through the school of your choice.
However, if you at all plan to retake, I would recommend you to drill down deep into the different questions types:
SC: The questions test various concepts such as S-V agreement, modifiers, parallelism etc. Find out what troubles you.
CR: There might be certain types of questions that are troubling you. May be Assumption, may be conclusion, inference etc.
You need to find that out and then practice them
RC: This again can be drilled down into different types of questions and also different topics. See what questions and topics trouble you the most and then practice accordingly.
Quants: Again break the questions into topics such as Algebra, Number System (very important), PnC, Probability, Geometry etc.
As an addition, start preparing an
error log and keep a note of all the mistakes you made and the lessons you learnt from the problems. This will ensure you do not make the same mistake again.
Make sure you complete all of the OG and the Verbal review and if required, you can buy the Question pack1 from mba.com
