HOW TO ANSWER RC QUESTIONS
READ ALL THE CHOICES CAREFULLY: In GMAT Verbal, focus on eliminating four wrong answers rather than finding one right answer. A common mistake is spotting an answer that matches your initial idea and choosing it without fully checking the others. Even a single word can make an answer incorrect. To avoid careless errors, read every choice carefully and use the process of elimination. Although it takes more time, this approach is essential for accuracy on an adaptive test.
Besides, don’t pick a choice just because it matched your thinking: an erroneous pre-thinking can lead to pick the incorrect answers. Don't choose an answer just because it immediately matches your initial reasoning. Read all the answer choices carefully, eliminate the ones that are clearly incorrect, and then continue narrowing down the remaining options until only the strongest answer is left. Focus on ruling out wrong answers rather than looking for a reason to pick one right away.
DON’T FORGET TO PRACTICE YOUR READING!
A reason you're struggling might simply be that your reading skills are not yet as strong as you'd like them to be. The good news is that this can be improved over time. A great long-term strategy is to read regularly and expose yourself to a wide variety of topics. Read articles on science, history, economics, psychology, technology, business, politics, and culture. The more diverse your reading, the more comfortable you'll become with unfamiliar subjects and complex arguments. Over time, this will strengthen both your reading speed and your comprehension skills, making passages much easier to understand and analyze.
