I've been reading through the posts on the career and future goals essay, and generally the advice is to pick one career and stick to it to avoid sounding lost. However is it possible to merge product/brand management with international business without having it sound like 2 different careers? Is such a career even common?
I am in marketing now and want to get an mba to more specifically focus on product management while gaining international experience. My goal would be to work for a major US brand with offices overseas, so I can travel frequently, possibly relocate if the opportunity arises and add value as a liasion between the company's US and international divisions. Any advice on how to convey this as focused as possible without sounding like I'm throwing two career paths out there, marketing and international business?

I'm also quite interested to hear people's thoughts on this one. Definitely on par with what I plan to discuss in my essays as well. I would think that by expressing an interest to focus on product management and/or Brand management in a Foreign Market or one native to yours ( depending on origin), you are in fact driving both areas as a focused career.

These are not contradictory at all & I think you can easily discuss them in the same essay. It probably depends on the size of the company and how they structure their business as to how it would work out, but I don't see any problems putting these two together. This is particularly common for international applicants as well as folks that are looking to go into emerging markets. Lots of rotational programs also have an opportunity for global marketing as a rotation.
