I have been stuck at V33ish or V34ish for the past 1 month. These are my scores of the last 4 mock attempts:

Gmatwhiz Mock - V32
E-Gmat Mock - V28
Experts Global - V34
Manhattan - V33

This is my module-wise accuracy in the Verbal section.

Hi ThatIndianGuy,

It's usually not a good idea to compare scores across providers, and these are all nonofficial tests, so it's really hard to tell whether you are actually in the early 30s or confirm that you are stuck there. Do you have any official practice tests left?

Also, I normally recommend that we start focusing on official material (practice tests and practice questions) in the final 3-4 weeks before the test.

Hi ThatIndianGuy.

To master GMAT verbal, people generally have to do three things:

- learn rules and concepts

- learn strategies

- develop strong skills by practicing

So, generally, when people are having trouble increasing their verbal scores, they either haven't learn all the rules concepts they need to know or have learned things that are inaccurate, they either haven't learned strategies for answering the various types of verbal questions or have learned strategies that don't really work, or they haven't practiced effectively.

So, for some ideas on how to be sure to learn the rules and concepts you need, learn strategies that work, and practice effectively, see the following posts.

Three Key Practice Tips for Mastering GMAT Verbal

Hi ThatIndianGuy,

Assuming that you took each of those CATs/mocks in a realistic fashion that matches-up with how you will take the Official GMAT - and those are accurate assessments of your current ability level - then you're closer to a V35 than you probably realize. That having been said, if you've been consistently scoring at that level for some time, then you may have developed some 'bad habits' that are keeping you from scoring higher (and that will take time to fix).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

No, I am saving official tests for the end days. Are Manhattan CATs not a good indicator of actual score??

Thanks

Hi ThatIndianGuy,

I think nonofficial tests can be helpful, as long as we know the advantages and disadvantages of using them. Unfortunately, I don't think that nonofficial tests generate very accurate score estimates. Some of them (as you mentioned) are definitely better than others, but official practice tests are the best. The primary reason for this is question and question information (the characteristics of questions) quality.

Do you want to spread your official practice tests out a bit? Maybe 1 (beginning), 1 (middle), and 2 (end)? Keep the remaining two for a possible retake.
