The Wiley Online Question Bank, which is included for free with your purchase of print versions of the 2017 Official Guides, is much-improved from last year’s edition, which logged you out frequently and didn’t indicate the question numbers from the paper books. This year’s edition lets you stay logged on for a long time, and question numbers are provided for reference. It even alerts you after you have spent more than 2 minutes on a question!
However, if you are like me, then you don’t always like to simulate timed GMAT test conditions where you complete 37 or 41 questions at a time. Sometimes, you prefer to try just 1 question at a time, with no time limit, and then check the official answer/explanation right away so that you can benefit from the instant feedback.
Of course, you could always just click "View Answer" while in practice mode, immediately after choosing an answer, but the problem is that the clock will continue to tick, throwing off your timing numbers and perhaps unnecessarily stressing you out. There is currently no straightforward way to do so in an untimed session (you can pause the test in practice mode, but you cannot view the answer explanations while paused), so I've created an untimed workaround that works for me:
1) Go to
https://gmat.wiley.com and register your copy of
the Official Guide, using the code on the back cover.
2) Log onto your account, select your book and choose “Practice Mode”
3) Select a large group of questions (all of the hard questions, for example). Be aware that the longer the list, the longer it will take to load on your computer.
4) Start your test, but end it right away and enter the review mode.
5) At this point you will be able to view the questions and explanations to every question in your list. I suggest removing the explanation before looking at it (click on the "x" in the upper right-hand corner), though, so that you may try the question blindly first.
What's nice about this method is that you can just keep the tab open on your browser, and work on it whenever you have the time, without having to worry about pausing the test every time so that you may return to it later. Now that the auto-logout issue has been resolved, and now that you can cross-reference the questions with your book, the Wiley Question Bank has become a much nicer product.
