Hi all,
Gave the GMAT and scored a 720 (V41,Q48, IR 5)
Not sure what went wrong with IR as I felt pretty confident while answering.
Im concerned about using this score for that reason.
Additionally, the schools I am looking at have a median score of around 730. I will be retaking in 2 weeks.
What are some strategies required to improve?
These are my problem areas section wise
1) Quant - Careless errors, C traps , inequalities, word problems and anything that requires visual thinking . Additionally, there is one question type that I keep getting wrong. This is around rules and formulas. For eg I recently made a mistake in a question which asked me to find out if a given line intersects the 1st quadrant. The line turned out to be the X axis and In my mind I could see the x axis "touching" the quadrants so it was a yes.
This type of question is one where I falter across topics and the questions are marked as sub 600 and 600-700 level. My score confirmation has not happened yet and so I dont have access to ESR data but I know that I made at least 1 such sub 600 level mistake related to "rules" in the exam. Any tips on how to practice for this?
2) Verbal- I dont know how to improve. In every official mock I got v41 which was also what I got in my actual test. mistakes on official questions tend to be in SC and CR
In non official sources my mistakes are concentrated in RC. I suspect my ESR will point to my mistakes lying in SC and maybe Rc (last passage and poor time management)
3) IR - I think this is a big red flag with my result especially given the increased focus on IR going forward.
What is a study plan I should follow?
