Hi jeesa,

Just to clarify - you used the Quant Score Booster Study Plan (meaning that you didn't work through any of our Verbal materials)?

Hi rich,
I did study empower verbal last year. But i didn't complete the whole module though. This year, yes, just the quant score booster.

I have been studying GMAT for a while now. My verbal is not improving at all. I do not know where I am going wrong. I tried empowergmat. and my quant scored improved like crazy. but verbal is still very bad. so i enrolled into this 6 month e-gmat course. i did good in the quizes after every chapter. so i thought my concept is more clear now, but on my first practice test after the course, i scored 23 again! i have 1 more month left before my exam. This is going to be my 3rd and last official GMAT!.

Hi jeesa,

If you are doing the E-gmat course, I would recommend that you try to implement their 3 step process thoroughly. You need some time to get used to the process, however once you get comfortable with their process, in my experience it really works. You can also use the Scholaranium to help you improve your score. It is indeed one of the best practice tools available in the market and will indeed help you improve on your weak areas.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hey,

Take a step back and take a deep breath. Whatever mocks you've taken, maintain your scores for the verbal section in an excel segregated by each topic. For eg - Sentence Correction - Modifiers 1/3, RC Direct 10/20 etc

Analyse the sub sections in which your accuracy is very bad. Work on those sections first. All this shouldn't take you a lot of time as you're already a veteran :)

Hi Everyone,

I have been scoring V21 in verbal with 2-4 months of preparation. I went through the Manhattan material for verbal, however I am not able to increase my score.
Kindly suggest me a proper plan for 1 month for verbal since I will be taking GMAT next month .

Hi Everyone,

Hi Soccerati,

A score of V21 indicates that you are having a lot of conceptual gaps and are highly struggling with the application. You need to first make sure that you learn the concepts perfectly and then learn the right application of concepts. You can definitely improve your score but doing that in one much might be a challenge. Unless you can dedicate good number of hour studying, it will be very difficult to improve your score in a month.

Before I suggest you the right strategy, let's understand what to do before you start working.

What all you need to know before you start studying?

Before you start studying the concepts of any module, it's important to understand what is being tested using the questions of that module. For example, before you learn the concepts of SC module, you need to understand that SC questions on GMAT test your ability to convey the right meaning without any ambiguity. Once you understand this, your focus while learning the concepts will be more around the meaning-based approach rather than on the grammar rules.

How do you go about it?

As you are having a lot of conceptual gaps, it makes sense to start your prep from the scratch. The right way to do that is:

  • Deal with one topic at a time
  • Learn the concepts of the topic (For example, subject-verb pair in Sentence Correction)
  • Learn the right methods to solve questions of that topic
  • Practice a few questions of that topic without any time limit (The focus has to be to solve the questions using the right methodology)
  • Move to the next topic only if you get more than 80% accuracy
  • If not, revisit the concepts and make sure that you understand perfectly this time
  • Move to the next topic and repeat the same process
  • Once you are done with all the topics, you can start taking timed quizzes

And the study plan will entirely depend on the number of hours you can dedicate for studies in a day. I can help you in a much better way if you can give me a few more details such as:

  • the resources you are using right now
  • your current study strategy
  • the number of hours you can dedicate for studies

This information will help me guide you in a better way. You can write back to me here or a better way is to discuss the same over a call. As you are planning to take the test in a month, I suggest you that we get in touch over a call and come up with a plan of action. You can use the link below to schedule a call with me.
