You can score 45 on verbal while missing 2 or 3 of the 30 counted verbal questions. So, since you could also miss one or more of the 6 experimental verbal questions, you could take the attitude that you can miss 4 verbal questions and score V45.
Getting to V45+ once you're able to score V40+ will likely take filling any concept gaps you have and getting better at executing when you answer verbal questions. In other words, you have to get better at avoiding trap choices and working your way to correct answers.
Also, to be sure that you're actually scoring in the 40s on verbal, you may want to take some official practice tests if you haven't already.
