Hi everyone,

Can you suggest how can i improve my GMAT score from 510 to above 720.
Background: I am from engineering background. I took coaching from one institute, solved their questions book which has around 10-20 questions on each topic. I took my first GMAT exam two months back, my GMAT score was 510 (Q44, V18).During this exam, i was unable to attempt more than 24 questions in QUANT in the given time limit and not more than 23 in VERBAL ( rest i used to tick before submitting). I gave GMAT after two months and again, I got same score 510(Q43,V19). Struggled to finished each section in time same as in previous first attempt ( same no of questions attempted). In this two month gap, I went through verbal lectures of one coaching; i feel my conceptual knowledge improved but speed is same. RC and CR takes most of my time in verbal section. Is it doable in two months( i am targeting to retake before two months- GMAT FOCUS edition will be compulsory by January end). I am skeptical considering no improvement after two months of hard work.

Since the old GMAT format will be discontinued after January 31st, it's better to switch to the GMAT Focus edition.

Your current scores indicate that there are some gaps in your foundational knowledge. It's crucial to invest time in thoroughly understanding GMAT concepts. This could mean exploring a variety of resources - from books and online courses to YouTube videos and test prep companies. Really dive deep into the fundamentals.

Once you feel confident with the basics, the next step is consistent practice. Work through the official GMAT guides and take regular mock tests. This practice is key to improving not just your knowledge, but also your speed and test-taking strategy.

Given the extent of preparation needed, you're probably looking at a timeline of 3-6 months to achieve a significant score increase. Good luck!

Consider checking out Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for CR. For RC, becoming familiar with how inference questions work could be helpful as well. For time management, question/time markers may be useful.
