Hello, AjithKumar718. I agree with the above advice that working with official questions is in your best interest; in fact, I would say that doing so is essential to preparing adequately for the test. A score in the 600s tells me that you probably have a lot of fundamentals down, but a few Easy questions may be slipping through the cracks and holding you back. To reach 700, you want to prioritize Easy and Medium questions, per official categorization. (If you want to use the Practice Question Banks to filter such questions, that is fine; their categorization on this site aligns pretty well with the official ones.) I promise you that if you can reach 90 percent accuracy on Easy questions, 80 percent on Medium questions, and even 50 percent on Hard questions, you will walk away with your 700. In fact, some of my best interactions with others on this site who were once in your shoes have played out in the same manner, starting with this type of query.

In short, however you choose to refine your approach to solving questions, you will need to hit certain benchmarks in practice to give yourself the best chance of achieving your target score.

Good luck. If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

- Andrew

Hi AjithKumar718,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. Have you taken either of the two free Official CATs (from www.mba.com)? I ask because if you take either of those Exams under realistic Testing conditions that match-up with how you will take the Official GMAT, then that result would likely give us the most accurate measure of your current 'ability level' (which may be higher or lower than these 3rd-party results imply).

Assuming that these two CAT results are accurate - and your current level is the low-600s, then statistically-speaking, raising a 630 to the point that you could consistently score 700+ would likely require that you commit to at least another 1.5 - 2 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam so you CAN train to score at a higher level. That having been said, with just 3 weeks of study time, there will likely be a limit to how much you can improve.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) Are these the only two CATs/mocks that you have taken so far? On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
