Hey,
Congrats its not a good score its a great score!
My Gpa is around 2.9ish, for most of the canadian B schools they look at last 2 yrs of gpa (and in that case I m 3.5 or higher, first 2 yrs is bad due to a bad car accident), and my background is Fine Arts, same 7+ yrs work exp, etc, I was told by the admission counselor at Schulich to take some accounting/calculus courses just to show that I can handle Q courses at univ level. I should have done something about it, this was 2 yrs back! (couldn't come up with either time or $$)
May be the schools you have mentioned, you can contact the admission counselors and ask them, best ppl to get the advice from really, that lady I met with was also the one who sits on Shulich's Admission committee, So it was kinda reassuring that I have some hope after all!
If you really don't have a solid reason to explain the downward gpa trend then really building an alternative transcript is the best option.
keep us posted, all the best for future,
Cheers.
