Hi everyone! I appeared for the GMAT exam last week and I scored 640 (Q-47; V-30). I expected a score more than 650.
My mock test scores are as mentioned below (all taken over the last month):-
MGMAT 1 - 680 (Q-45, V-37)
MGMAT 2 - 690 (Q-48, V-36)
Official GMAT Exam 3 - 700 (Q-50, V-34)
Official GMAT Exam 4 - 720 (Q-50, V-36)
Since I have never scored so low in the verbal section in any of the mock tests taken during my course of preparation I am baffled by such a low score.
I have obtained the ESR. It shows 69th for CR, 38th for RC and 57th for SC.
I am planning to retake GMAT on the first week of July. Please suggest me what can I do to score above V35.

Often, when test-takers score unexpected low on the Verbal section of the GMAT, the reason is that, in their preparation for Verbal, they somehow emphasized what appears on the official practice tests rather than learned how to handle anything that the GMAT might throw at them on the Verbal section. It's easy for such an outcome to happen because a lot of what's said about the Verbal section in the GMAT prep space is based on what appears on the Verbal section of the official practice tests.
So, one thing you could do to ensure that you score higher on Verbal next time is make sure to learn general concepts and strategies and develop skills that apply to Verbal questions generally rather than emphasize learning about what people say "the GMAT does," which is basically what the GMAT has done in the past, and may not be what you see on your GMAT.
