Hi spada100,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here and we can discuss how you might best proceed with your studies.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) What study materials do you currently have access to?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hello Rich,

My goal score is over 700. I've been studying since Nov. 11, I plan on studying for another 6 months then take the test in June. My target schools are Indiana, Boston and Champaigne-Urbana. For the Fall semester of 2023. Although, I may be premature, because I was told my a consultant that I should take some management math extention courses through Berekely or UCLA. I'm basically just grazing through the material all of it through Magoosh. I want to fully review before planning on taking a CAT on mba.com. I'll have access to the Manhattan prep books soon and Target Test prep after I finish studying with Magoosh.

Hi all,

How should I go about studying for the GMAT? Should I review everything first then go back and see where I should review or stop at each error and then go from there?

Thanks~

Consider creating an error-log to keep track of the questions/topics you attempt. Reviewing questions thoroughly to see, for example on Quant, if there may have been shorter ways to solve them could also be helpful. All the best. Some quick tips on the gmatknight website.

Hi spada100.

The best way to prepare is to master one topic at a time in the following way.

- First, review the relevant concepts and strategies.

- Then, do practice questions involving that topic UNTIMED until you're achieving high accuracy.

- Finally, work on reducing the time per question until you're correctly answering questions involving that topic at test pace.

Once you've mastered one topic, you can move on to the next and do the same thing.

Meanwhile, since you plan to use the Target Test Prep GMAT course, you'll see that the course takes you through the topics basically as I outlined, by first presenting concepts and strategies for a topic and then providing ample practice.

If you have any questions for the TTP team when you begin using the course, you can reach out to us via the in-course chat.
