Pelihu,
That's right.

I had 3 forms of ID, work picture/name card, drivers license, bank card with pic. I was refused and so had to rush back and get my passport. So in effect i started my test not at 9am but about 11ish...

Same thing happened to me. And I was in the US...I'm still convinced that the Pearson lady was confused. I cabbed back home and still ended up taking the exam that day.

Check out this link:

https://www.gmac.com/gmac/ResearchandTre ... Volume.htm

It is the official GMAC count of the number of people that have registered for the exam, and the number of people that have taken the exam thus far this year, with comparisons to the last 3 years.

Registration volume is way up, but the number of test takers is the lowest of the 4 year period. I figure there are 2 explanaions for this.

1) A lot of people have registered and will be taking the test soon (huge spike in test-taker volume); or

2) A lot of people registered for the exam, but many were turned away, for not having the correct ID for example. Perhaps the switch to Pearson Vue has resulted in stricter ID requirements.

I guess we will know in a while which it is.

Thanks for that link. What I found particularly interesting was the chart showing a huge gap between the number of women and men taking the test:

You know what gets me?

146,771 exams * 250 price = $36,692,750

I'm in the wrong business.

Why didn't your drivers license work?

I took the test three times.

All three times, there was someone they denied entry to for not having proper id.

Somewhere I read ETS(no info abt gmac) is a non profit organisation.......:-)

But to be frank, These guys really deserve a pat on their back.
For such an innovative style of paper.
The Indian CAT lacks in innovation.
The CR, DS,Sc..wow.
hats off to them...
And secondly, no paper laekage......

I had prepared for CAT, and frankly, it is *much* tougher than the GMAT.

On the innovation front, I am not sure, but the format of CAT and GMAT paper tests are quite similar. the computer adaptive GMAT is a good improvement though. Not to mention, it is easier to type your essays than write them (atleast for me).

Paper leakage? CAT? Did that happen? I don't seem to remember :)
GMAT really has no 'paper' - everyone gets a different test, so its easier to maintain the "no leakage". Even if some questions leaked, the likelihood of you getting that question on the test is quite low. And if you do answer it correctly, the next questions is going to be tougher, so you better know how to solve questions, rather than just knowing the answers :)

Rhyme - does 34 million in revenue really sound that high? Their costs are quite high honestly, so 34 million does not sound too much...

I've heard from so many places that application volumes are up (Adcom at Columbia said that ED applications were up 17%), but the GMAT volume doesn't support it. I wonder if it is just (roughly) the same number of applicants as last year, but people are just applying to more schools each. If so, yields will be down (because each person can only attend 1 school) so there might be a lot more hope for people that are waitlisted.
