Over the last year, I've been telling every international applicant that I speak to that NOW is a perfect time for you to apply to a U.S. MBA program.
The political climate in the US right now has created a lot of noise - visa changes, government targeting specific schools like Harvard, etc - and we knew this was going to impact international admissions and attendance at American universities. Now, we have the proof: New international student enrolment drops 17% at US universities
On its face, this number may be discouraging. However, it actually represents a HUGE opportunity for international applicants. The reason: these schools still want the best talent, regardless of WHERE it comes from. While most people will focus on the drama or politics of the moment, MBA admissions committees at top programs are focused on bringing in talented professionals with unique experiences, perspectives, and passions. This means seeking out the best candidates from across the world.
So, as the international applicant herd reacts to short-term issues and avoids the U.S., you could move forward in an environment that is temporarily less competitive.

Yes, I have seen a significant uptick of the international (non-US) MBA program interest at the MBA Spotlight just last week - lots of folks interested in LBS, INSEAD, HEC, and others non-US Schools. It seems the US is very quickly losing the lead.
