Hi GMATaxe001,

The 'swings' in your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores could be due to a variety of different reasons, including the type of practice CATs you're taking, the time of day you take the CAT, the number of lucky/unlucky guesses and silly mistakes that you make (or don't make), etc. You might also be "winging it" on a lot of questions - meaning that you don't have set Tactical approaches to the Quant and Verbal section and you are doing what you think is best on a question-by-question basis. As such, it's tough to say what your actual 'ability level' is right now, although it's probably higher than what we discussed 1 month ago (here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/620-q45-v31- ... 31560.html).

Based on everything that we have discussed up to this point, you will probably need more than an additional month of study to get to the point that you can consistently score 730+. There's no harm in taking the GMAT on October 10th - and it might be worthwhile even if you don't hit your Score Goal (since that score data can help to define how you perform under specific testing conditions and what you should work on going forward). Business Schools generally do not care if you take the GMAT more than once, so there's probably no harm in doing so - but you have to decide whether that potential additional expense is acceptable or not (and either stick with your current Test Date or push it back).

1) Are you still leaning towards any Round 1 deadlines for any of the Schools that you're interested in or will it be Round 2 for all of them?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi Rich, Thanks for your kind response..you are right. I am doing what i feel right per question basis but I need to develop a stronger skill base and consistent strategy. I am willing to apply to all R2s except Wisconsin which is on November first. Rescheduling is free of charge for now. I will probably push my date to 17th Oct. I can spare 4 hours on weekdays and 6 hours on weekends.

Your scores indicate that the variance is more in Verbal than in Quant.

Since you mention SC as your specific area of concern, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.

After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!

The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

See here how Mohit, who scored 750 on GMAT, vouches for our book.

If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.

Hi GMATaxe001,

I want to start by clarifying a couple of points from my prior post. First, the 'additional expense' that I was referring to was a reference to paying to take the GMAT twice (not to reschedule an existing date - since as you seem to already know, there currently is no fee to reschedule). Second, the extra time that you might end up needing to get to a 730+ would almost certainly be MORE than just 1 extra week. With an October 10th Test Date, you currently have about 3.5 weeks of study time; with an October 17th Test Date, that would give you 4.5 weeks - but since there's the rather big question as to what your current 'ability level' is right now, that 4.5 weeks might not be enough time either.

1) Is Wisconsin your first-choice School? If it is, then I understand why you might want to take the GMAT in a month to make that application deadline. If it's NOT your first-choice School, then it sounds as though you're basing your immediate plans on making that one deadline. If you would actually prefer to go to any of the other Schools that you're applying to, then pushing back your Test Date even further would likely be the best choice (and you could easily push that Wisconsin application back to the next Round and free up some of the pressure that you'll likely put on yourself in the next month).

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your.02

I have rescheduled to 22nd october. I plan to improve on weak areas, take mocks and revise error log in this duration.

Wisconsin isnt my first choice so you are right, it makes sense to take that delivery pressure off and apply to all other schools in R2.

Any more tips for one month of studying?
