Hi,
I am 32 years old right now and I am planning to restart my GMAT preparation. I know I should have planned and done it sooner but things didn’t work out for me. My experience also is not that great I have done engineering in graduation from mechanical. And since I have been struggling to find the right kind of profile I switched a few profiles and I am quite a bit behind in my career than my peers. So basically I passed out of college in 2011 and I started working in 2012. I took a break of one year in year 2016. And I am currently working as an assistant manager in a private firm.
I basically want to enter data science field and was wondering whether I should take a GRE or GMAT, or even if preparing for such an exam and planning to study further is a good decision at my age. Since I have already prepared for GMAT ones so I thought I would give it a try again. It would be great to have some opinions pour in and some guidance as well. I am really running out of time and really very disappointed in my career. But I want to make it better and stable before I reach a certain age.

When we last discussed your studies, you were training for the 'old' version of the GMAT. The current version has shorter Quant and Verbal sections and gives you the option to choose the order of your sections (and can even be taken At-home, as opposed to at a Test Center).
Before we can discuss how you might best restart your studies, I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and plans:
1) How many times have you taken the Official GMAT? On what dates did you take the Test and how did you score on each attempt (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
2) What are your current application plans? When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) How long has it been since you took a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT/mock?

These days GMAT = GRE and most schools in the US and Europe are not picky.
There are a few programs that are also offering test waivers (meaning you don't have to take the test at all) but that benefits mostly with strong profile. If your profile is not great and you are behind on the career side of things, you probably want to get a score and score high.
Keep in mind, you will be 33 when you matriculate and that's starting to approach tricky age for the US schools. Europe and Asia are generally fine. Starting, it is not terminal age but just FYI. https://gmatclub.com/forum/old-for-an-mba-352223.html
