Jevano - A V38 is a great score. With a good improvement in the quantitative section, you could very well score 720 and above. I recommend that you focus on the quant section because a Q36 says that you not only lack conceptual clarity but also fail to apply your knowledge to solve problems. I shall send you a PM with a recommendation. All the best.

Hey, my journey with Quant is quite similar at the moment.
Would really appreciate if you could help me out with a few recommendations as well.

Thank you!

Hey Vibha,

I think you should go through the concepts once again. Deal with one topic at a time. Generally we suggest a step by step process for students who study for GMAT.
  • Learn the concepts (For example, prime numbers)
  • Learn the methodology (Learn the right technique to solve question types tested from the topic prime numbers)
  • Practice a few questions from that topic to solidify your learning (Make sure you use the right methodology learnt and you don't have to worry about solving the question under 2 minutes at this stage)
  • Move to the next topic only if get at least 80% accuracy
  • If not, revisit the concepts, identify your weaker areas and then make sure you learn it perfectly this time
  • Repeat the process for each topic
  • Once you are done with all the topics, you can start taking timed quizzes to get used to solving questions under 2 minutes

This is the sequence you need to follow. There are certain question types tested from each topic on GMAT quant. Make sure you know those question types and know how to solve them using the right methodology. I am emphasizing more on learning the right methodology because most students are not even aware of it. You can go through the following recording to understand what do I mean by the right methodology.

Hope it helped. Feel free to get in touch if you need any help with the quant prep. And make sure you use the right resource to study because the resource you use plays a major role in your prep.

Hi Jevano,

Many Test Takers face pacing issues in the Quant section, the Verbal section or both – so you are not alone. However, it's important to remember that pacing problems do NOT exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems. To help define those issues, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
3) Are you planning to take the At-home GMAT or are you planning to take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to and what specific application deadlines are you facing?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
