I did it!

Question

I just got back from my test and I am so excited that I had to post here. I got a 700! I never in a million years thought I would get to post in this forum and be a 700er! I still am floating and nearly cried when I saw my results!
I got 43 quant (70%) and 42 verbal (96%)
While I wish I could have gotten that quant up to 80, beggers can't be choosers and I'm hoping it's good enough.
After two very disappointing GMATs, I couldn't believe this one got me to my goal. I didn't even really study as hard this time. I think that that might have been key. Over the past few days I kind of surendered my obsession with getting this score- I've been working on essays and working ridiculously hard at work. I went into the test just expecting I could at least match my last score, and now I couldn't be happier!

Thanks to all for your help. And GO GET THOSE CHALLENGES. Even though I only did 6- the Data sufficieny number rule ones (my biggest weakness) were sooo much harder than anything I saw on the gmat.

You'll be shocked to no I didn't really prepare for verbal that much- math was my biggest struggle and I spent 90% of my time on that.
The second time I took the gmat I did spend some time working on verbal- I did a lot of sentence correction from the Official Guide and then went over the ones I got wrong again and again. Chances are you get similar question types wrong in that area so once you master the rules (parallelism, etc.) you are good to go.

I did some critical reasoning practice too and used the kaplan method of identifying what the conclusion was and then what the assumption was and formulated an answer before I read the choices. That really helped.

For reading comp- I did no practice. I found skimming the passage and taking notes was not a helpful strategy at all. The hardest passages are so detail oriented and about horrendously boring subjects like the evolution of pottery - so I read all the passenges incredibly slowly taking mental notes of what details were in which paragraph. that worked best for me. hope this is helpful and thanks for all the congrats guys!
