Congrats!

This is awesome!
I have a post about some recommendations for before the test. And you are correct, do you want to make sure that you protect your score and that it doesn’t slide.

The best recommendation is do not change anything. Don’t try to improve and basically do not do anything on the test day the difference from the practice test. Many people decide to work out at the gym extra hard the morning of or they decide to use the new method or approach. Don’t do it 😎

Assuming your score is not inflated by taking questions you’re familiar with, all you should do is continue practicing, work on your timing, and then have a contingency plan for what you will do if after two minutes you cannot answer the question. Decide ahead of time about cut offs and timing strategies to make sure you don’t lose too much time on the actual test on a single question.

Hello everybody :) I started preparing for my GMAT test a little more than two weeks ago, and I have since taken two official practice tests (one every week):

Test 1:
Q49 V44
Total score 760

Test 2:
Q50 V42
Total score 760

I was obviously taken aback by these good results, especially by the verbal one (since English isn't my mother tongue).

In these two weeks I completed the OG guide and did some exercises from the Quant and Verbal official reviews. What would you guys suggest as the best course of action now? I have seen many guides regarding how to improve your score, but I haven't been able to find many tips on how to make sure that your score remains unchanged on test day :)
I still have 17 days until the day of my test.

Thank you in advance!

Hi sanctemichael,

Those are some great scores! Do you plan to take any additional practice tests prior to your exam?

Time to keep yourself in momentum.

Keep practicing questions and time yourself. Try to solve the hard questions in a shorter timeframe.

This is just practice. You will see that this will help on the actual test day. I actually even took like a 5 mins break in the middle back when I was giving the test. Speed matters

Just fo reference, I ended up with a 750, Q50 V41 :)

I took two more practice tests before and got 770 and 780, so I was actually a bit disappointed... probably my worse performance was due to:
1. some test day stress
2. I had to book a hotel in the city where I took the test, and I could not sleep at all, so I really wasnt in my best form

Still I hear GMAT requirements are a bit lower here in Europe, so I hope 750 will be ebough.

Cheers :)

Gratz on the 750. Consider writing a profile-review. All the best in case you've already applied.

So how long did you study for? Just trying to confirm this unique case. 😂

We have people who have studied for a record period of time and spend years and I think you may be able to be the record in terms of the record shortest time. I just want to record it 😇

The record would probably be 0 days, lol.

I mean, some people take the test pretty much blind, and a few of them walk out with good scores.

My prep was pretty much... exactly one week? I registered my account here and immediately forgot about it for like half a year...

Decided I'd take the test pretty much on a whim after a friend mentioned taking it... I had like 4 days between the day I registered for the GMAT and the day I sat the exam itself ( I was planning to treat it as a "warm up" of sorts, as it was my first attempt out of what I assumed at the time would be at least two ). Did some problems here and went through the first 4 practice tests...

Yes, exactly. The record would be 0 days since there have to be at least a few people out there who have scored high without any GMAT-specific prep at all, though clearly they prepared in some way.

Nice work!

And yes, 750 will likely be sufficient.
