I have a masters degree in accounting can I get my MBA?

greetings,

I have read a number of school's admission criteria that states something similar to " you can not enroll in an MBA program if you already have an MBA or an equivalent".
I obtained my Masters in Accounting right after completing my undergrad in accounting - the school had it set up almost as a 5 year program. is a Masters in Accounting "equivalent" to an MBA? will I now be rejected from MBA programs for having my masters in accounting?

I have a MAC and I got accepted so if anything, it's a huge plus. Master's degrees from other disciplines show that you will probably be able to handle the academic rigor of the program (or at least fool them into thinking that in my case

) MBA equivalents are basically programs that carry the same layout and curriculum of an MBA program, but go by a different name. I think this is more applicable for schools outside the US.

Thanks for the reply! If you feel comfortable (maybe in private message) can you tell me more of your background? Info such as # years work experience / type.. auditing? / level of community involvement? I think our backgrounds are very similar based off what I see in your profile. Of course Duke is a great school so just want to get a feel of my relative standing..

Honestly I think it's very hard to discern a personal "standing" since the MBA application is such a subjective process. Honestly my profile at face value, I'd say I'm more suited to schools in the 20-30 range. I think I got into Duke because I really made them a priority by visiting them early, applying for early admissions, and staying in contact with my admissions counselor. Duke also really appreciated my persistence so it all paid off in the end. Not trying to pump your ego or deflate it either... just saying relative standing is a very difficult thing to discern with an evaluation that is so holistic

Just curious.. what did your job with a law firm doing financial reporting entail? I wouldn't think such a position with a law firm existed. Im guessing the firm did consulting to small cap SEC registered companies and had some niche. Maybe it is a new job I look into I probably could learn a lot while waiting for school to start.
