i have a small doubt that im unable to get a convincing answer from MGMAT. can anyone help?

this sentence is wrong (as per the guide) because those doesnt have an antecendent
whereas;
2. some people believe that the benefits of a healthy diet outweigh those of regular exercise
this sentence is correct
can anyone explain the difference?

In the first sentence, for 'those' to have a clear referent we need a plural noun. Notice that 'cat' is singular. Therefore 'those' could not be referring to 'cat.'

In the second sentence, 'those' refers to 'benefits,' which is plural.
