I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm not sure how to search this question. Here it goes.

If (2^x) - (2^x-2) = 3(2^13), what is the value of x?

(2^x) - {2^(x-2)} = 3(2^13)
(2^x) - (2^x)/(2^2) = 3(2^13)
(2^x) (1 - 1/4) = 3(2^13)
(2^x) (3/4) = 3(2^13)
2^x = 2^15
x =15

2^x(1-2^-2) = 3 * 2^13

2^x = 3*4/3*2^13 = 2^15.........x = 15
