I missed my GMAT exam today because I didn't bring my passport so I was marked as a no show. I am now trying to schedule for another day but it tells me that i need to wait 16 days between appointments. However, the official website states that:

If you miss your scheduled appointment, you will not receive a refund. You may schedule a new exam without waiting a full 16 days.

So why can't I schedule my exam asap? Anyone experienced a similar problem before?
Hi jkal,

As Archit3110 pointed out, you should reach out to the Pearson customer service team as soon as possible. They may be able to schedule an appointment for you.

Ye i fked up... I brought my identity card but didn't realize i needed to bring my passport. I've sent them an email yesterday but they haven't replied. I've also called the customer center and the person said I need to wait 24-48 hours before I can register for another exam, but im not sure how reliable this information is since the communication with the customer support was quite bad (bad mic).

Its been more than 30 hours since my exam and i am still unable to register for another exam. It says Graduate Management Admission Council policy requires at least 16 days between appointments. You previously scheduled an appointment for 22 Oct 2021. Please choose a different appointment at least 16 days after that date when i try to register for another exam within 16 days. My previous exam is now showing in the "PAST GMAT TEST CENTER EXAMS" section on the official site with only a contact us button. I'm just worried that it counted my no-show exam as an exam attempt so that i need to wait 16 days for another exam.

A passport is always required when taking the exam at a location outside of your country of citizenship.
Are you taking the GMAT outside your country of citizenship? If yes, then the test admins were right. If not, you have the case in your favour.

I am taking the exam in Hong Kong and I have Hong Kong citizenship. However, after checking the identification requirements it says If you do not have an appropriate passport with you, you will forfeit your exam fee, and you will need to pay the full fee again. There are no exceptions. Does forfeiting the exam count as an exam attempt? Do I need to wait for 16 days?

Sorry about the stress. There are diff ID requirements in diff locations and not uncommon to mess them up. There are also diff requirements in the same location for different citizens (eg. A US person taking a test in Texas can use a Drivers license but a UK person who has lived in TX for 5 years must use their passport and cannot use the Texas drivers license… even more complicated). The good news is that You do not need to wait 16 days. You did not take the test.

However, The system marked you as having a test scheduled. It takes a few days for the system to catch up and for test centers to mark you as a no-show vs attempt (it assumes everyone took the test unless marked as such) and that is the reason you’re not able to reschedule your test.

It should all get caught up by Monday and then you should be able to schedule another appointment.

Unfortunately you will have to forfeit the fee and pay another $250 or $275 whatever it is in your location. You will not need to wait 16 days however once the system gets updated.

Thx
BB.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I called the customer support yesterday and was able to schedule my next exam without waiting for 16 days. I guess scheduling online just doesn't work if you missed your exam and they still require you to wait 16 days. I guess their system just doesn't update.
