I need an opinion on the KAPLAN GMAT prep book

Hi everyone,
I just joined the forum so pardon me if the question I ask has already been answered.
I am in the initial stages of preparing for my GMAT and have got the KAPLAN book. How does it rate?,

for starting its ok specially for maths. 
For verbal it guess its not worth

Its a good introduction into what the GMAT is all about, what questions you will see and how the CAT works. I think it is a good starting point for your studies. Be sure to read the book, don't just do the questions.

But lot of people said it has questions a way beyond the real GMAT questions. Shall we still read it?

I don't think the book has anything beyond what you would see on the real GMAT. I think the only problem with Kaplan are the practice CAT's that can really destroy your morale because they score so low. Yes, Kaplan uses some tricky wording sometimes to mess you up, but there are going to be instances tricky wording may be on the test. Do I think Kaplan is the end all be all of study guides? No. But if you have access to it, and you study it diligently, it will help, period. Honestly, any study material, used correctly, will help.

EDIT: The only study materials I used were Kaplan Premiere Book, Kaplan 800, and about 100 questions from the OG. Then, I spent time on these forums answering the math and verbal questions posted. That's it, nothing more. But, I was very diligent in understanding where I went wrong, where I guessed and still go it it right, and where I took too much time. Then, focused on those. Its all about effective study.

I glanced through the Kaplan and Princeton books and there is not much difference between them. My local library had them. If that was not case I don't think I would have paid money to get these books. I found Kaplan test to be very hard (never crossed 620) but it served a purpose in keeping me from getting overconfident, especially in quant, because of easy questions in OG. I would second Emoryhopeful advice, solving questions found in the GMAT forums was very beneficial
