Dear GMAT Club members,
sometimes when I see a strengthen question, I can't certain wether that question is strengthen or assumption question because in my thinking both strengthen and assumption have the same job, to support the argument. I read on powerscore CR Bible, the negation technique can only applied on assumption questions, but I can't simply know whether particular question is assumption or strengthen. Can you please explain how to easily spot strengthen or assumption questions?

But the question stem already does all that for you. For assumption questions, the word assumption itself will almost certainly be used. For example, an assumption that is required by the conclusion or that the conclusion depends on. You could also look out for the words presupposes and presupposition.

Strengthen questions and Assumption questions actually have a lot in common - so most of the 'steps' that you would go through to answer Assumption questions can also be used to answer Strengthen questions (the ultimate difference is that a Strengthen question requires that you do one additional step - find an answer that strengthens the logic/assumption(s) that the prompt is based on).
If you're having trouble differentiating between those two question types, then you might need to train with some new practice material (and learn/practice some new Tactics).

2) What study materials have you used?
