Hey There!
First of all, I'd like to share my appreciation for e-GMAT. They've put together such a comprehensive course that helped me get this far (at least).
I canceled my score today. I didn't do it at the center for free (yep!), but I did do it later (for $25), and I don't regret it one bit. I know I'm not going to Business School with that score.
Now, on to how I prepared. My GMAT journey started all the way back in June, and for the first month or so I spent the majority of my time trying to familiarize myself with the test - Learning what each section and subsection was about, and I did spend a while trying to study haphazardly.
Moving on, I did cover my basics with Math and I must say, my Verbal Section score isn't reflective of my actual ability. My last Verbal Ability test on Scholaranium (e-GMAT) was the 84th percentile, which is probably around the V38-40 mark. I could not focus for some weird reason in the Verbal Section and that really hurt my performance. I felt the verbal section getting Hard as I went through the test and I think I got a lot of questions wrong. That probably was another detrimental factor to my Score.
I am in need of Serious advice moving forward. I do not intend to stop until I reach my target of 760. I want to assert that this was my first attempt and I've invested a long time for this cause. I now know that I need a game plan. If I could get any suggestions on how I could go about it and reach a V45. I really want to give it my best shot the next time.

Here is the History of all the Mocks I've taken.
Sigma-X (e-GMAT) Mock 1- 26 Nov - 570 Q36 V33
Sigma-X Mock 2 - 09 Dec - 580 Q39 V31
Sigma-X Mock 3 - 12 Dec - 610 Q43 V30
Sigma-X Mock 4 - 13 Dec - 590 Q40 V31
Sigma-X Mock 5 - 17 Dec - 560 Q35 V32 (Ran out of time on Math)
I also have given Expert's Global's Mocks and got 680 and 690, which I think were inflated scores.

I do want to say that CR is my Achilles heel. My Sentence Correction on the test I think was shocking. Reading Comprehension can be managed - I intend to solve 3 RC's a day and Analyze each and every error. Also, how can I improve further in the Quant Section, say, a Q49 or Q50?
So, Experts! I think I need your advice.
Where do I go from here?

Hi sharkbite98,

I think Rajat has given you some great next steps you can do to improve your score. You should certainly complete all your courses and solidify your concepts before you move forward to the practice tests. After finishing your courses, if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.

I would also encourage you to purchase the official GMAT questions from mba.com for some great additional practice.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Thank You, Rajat egmat. I will follow your advice. I did feel at the end my knowledge about the concepts should have been stronger. Yes, consistency is key!
I hope to write to you soon with a much improved score.
Cheers.

Hi sharkbite98,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your various CAT score results - along with your Official Score - show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 580 +/- a few points). You handle certain aspects of the GMAT consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes.

As an aside, the 760+ score is the 99th percentile - meaning that 99% of Test Takers never score that high (regardless of how long they study or the number of times that they take the GMAT). Thankfully, NO Business School requires a score that high - so it's important to realize that the score that you "want" and the score that you "need" are not the same thing. If you're going to continue to study until you achieve that Goal though, you're going to have to make some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections.

Before we discuss how you might best continue with your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) Since you started studying in June, how many hours did you typically study each week? Did you take any 'time off' during your studies?
2) What study materials have you used so far?

Goals:
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

You might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
