I scored well in my Official mocks, when should I book the GMAT?

Hi all,

As the title says, I have scored well in my official mocks, and would like to know when I should book the GMAT exam.

For reference, here are my official GMAT mock scores thus far:
Mock 1: 600(taken under proper test conditions)
Mock 2: 700(taken under proper test conditions)
Mock 3: 610(I want to disregard this score as I had tried taking the mock under test conditions, but there were multiple distractions that day and I was unable to concentrate. I also felt rushed to do the exam so my mind wasn't in the right place).
Mock 4: 720(taken today(3/19/2023), and under proper test conditions)

If we discard M3, I did quite well in M2 and M4, and am confident that I can replicate the same performance in the actual mock. I have read on other posts that most people take their exam by 1 week after they finish their final mock, but I personally don't want to do this as I would feel like i'm being rushed to take the exam. I would prefer taking the exam in about 2 weeks time as I feel it would give me ample time to practice a few more questions and go through my notes and error log thoroughly. The 2 weeks would also give me time to "cool down" and mentally prepare myself for the exam(which I did for my mocks between M3 and M4).

Hence, should I take the exam in 1 weeks time as everyone else does or do what I feel would work for me?

Fair to say two consecutive fresh Official mocks that hit your target score is a positive sign you'll do something similar on an actual exam. If you feel Mock 3 was affected by external issues, that may be an exception.

As to when to book your actual exam, all things being equal, there may not be a huge difference between taking your exam a week or two weeks from now. Try to pick a date/time you feel most suited for taking it. Had a night owl student, for example, who took at least one of their two Online attempts around 7:30 pm, for example.

You two-week plan sounds great, particularly if it makes sense to you that it would work for you personally.

So, I think you should go with it.

I'll add that warming up for the test on test day by doing a few practice questions before you take it can help you get into game mode before you begin the test.

Hi Scott,

I do not want to take another practice test because I have read from previous posts on this forum that getting your target score(I am aiming for 700+) on two consecutive mocks is a good indicator that you are ready to take the actual exam. Regarding M1, M2 and M4, I had no outside distractions and felt ready to take the mock exams at that time. I also took those exams under actual test conditions(including adhering to strict break times). I could not do the same with M3 due to circumstances not under my control(I even had to pause the exam at times and leave my seat). I also rushed to take M3(despite knowing I hadn't revised properly and wasn't ready), so taking that mock was essentially a waste(which I regret doing) and is why I am discarding it. That is also why I made sure to take my time revising and doing enough practice questions so that I could fully focus before taking my 4th mock. I am quite confident that I can replicate the same performance in the actual GMAT, provided I take the same approach as I did between M3 and M4, and for M2.
