I have to admit probability is my weakest area. So these might be off by miles!
1)
a) Probability of both flowering yellow = probability of plant one flowering yellow*probability of plant two flowering yellow = 1/5*1/5=1/25
b) only one flowering yellow implies the other does not flower yellow. This can happen in 2 ways, ie, 1st yellow, 2nd not yellow. or 1st not yellow and second yellow.
(1/5*4/5)*2=8/25 {after seeing ywilfred's post!}
c) probability of no yellow = 4/5*4/5=16/26
d) probability of atleast 1 yellow = 1-probability of no yellow.
probability of no yellow = 4/5*4/5=16/25.
probability of atleast 1 yellow = 1-16/25=9/25
2)
probability of no yellow flowers = 4/5 per plant.
probability of no flowers for n plants = (4/5)^n
probability of atleast 1 yellow flower = 1-(4/5)^n
what are the OAs?
