Hi
EMPOWERgmatVerbal I am little confused with the sequence of event. Can you help with this one please.
I was at the circus for only half an hour when the assailant struck;
Isn't sequence of action clear here? when the assailant struck , she was already there. What am i missing here.?
Hello
EtaCarnia,
We hope this finds you well.
Having gone through the question and your query, we believe we can resolve your doubt.
We consider the sequence of events in a sentence clear if the sentence uses words such as "before" or "after" or makes clear mention of dates or times.
More importantly, even if the sentence, otherwise, makes the sequence of event clear, the use of the past perfect tense is not incorrect; it is merely unnecessary.
We hope this helps.
All the best!
