I think this is a poor-quality question and I don't agree with the explanation. question term: "preclude all the children from selecting a soda acceptable to each of them"

--> answer:
Grace doesn't have preference -->any option is acceptable, Rupert can select what he wants (lemon)
--> No answer key for this question

The question say " Each should not have their preferences met". It means all three of G, R, Z should not have their preferences met.

For this to apply, if any one does not get their preference, the condition is met.

For example, if Zayn does not get what he wants, but other two gets their preferences. Then the condition will hold.
