Between 1980 and 2008, the real value of India’s farm production rose from ₹2.6 trillion to ₹7.3 trillion, measured in constant 2004 rupees. The 16 Indian States included in the graph accounted for 98% of national agricultural production during this period. The regions used in the graph are defined as follows:

• East: Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa
• Central: Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh

• North: Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand
